I work on a hotel facilities team around Myeongdong, and I eat lunch where the locals eat. Not the neon tourist strips — the quiet basement places. This is one of them.
Mirae Sikdang means “Future Diner.” Cute name. The food is the exact opposite — it’s the Korean home cooking you’d get at a grandmother’s table. Tucked in a basement off a Myeongdong side street, under a hotel sign, easy to walk right past.
Here’s the deal. You order a main — most of them are ₩8,000 — and it comes as a proper set. Rice. A bowl of soup. A spread of little banchan dishes. And a fried egg. The rice and the banchan? Free refills. Keep going till you’re full.
It tastes like home. That’s the whole pitch, and it’s true. The pork stir-fry is spicy and comforting, the bean-sprout soup is clean and light, and the fried egg pulls it all together. Don’t overthink it. This is a warm, cheap, honest lunch.

Eating solo?
This is one of the easiest solo lunches in Myeongdong. Get the jeyuk-bokkeum (₩8,000), refill your rice, and take your time. Nobody rushes you.
Two or more?
Order a couple of different mains and share, or split the dak-doritang (spicy braised chicken). Everyone gets their own rice, soup and banchan.
